The death of the god Baldr and boasting of it in his Lokaseena was too much for the gods Loki had gone too far. They hunted him down found him hiding behind a waterfall pretending to be a salmon.
They lashed him to a pointed rock with his son's own entrails and put a serpent dripping poison which his wife Sigyn catches it in a bowl and has to empty it occasionally causing it the poison to hit her husband causing him to cause earthquakes. He is trapped there until Ragnarok the time of their Armageddon when the gods Odin, Thor, Loki, and Heimdall will die.
Loki will fight on the side of the Jontuns and be killed by Heimdall who he will kill too.
